Traveling from Ohio to spend New Year's in NYC. Obviously, New York is known for its restaurants and, having just made a reservation at Guy's new place, I could not be more excited. Anyone else been?

All the NY critics bashed it relentlessly so the food will probably be pretty good. I am also from Ohio and couldn't imagine living on that prissy frenchy food the critics like so well.
Haven't been, but like the previous poster said, the critics went out of their way to write bad reviews about this restaurant. It became a national news story for a short while. My impression is that it is a better version of Chili's. If that sounds good to you, then go and enjoy!

Pretty sure this is a joke. Few people who call themselves a foodie haven't read the absurd Times review of Guy's place earlier this year.
But just in case, avoid Times Square like the plague and go somewhere authentic. If you want a name-dropping kind of place, see if you can get a reservation at Mario Battali's Nobu.
After this review, who could pass it up?

Don't waste your time with that trendy nonsense. If you're going to travel all the way to NYC, then treat yourself to a classic dining experience of the very best. In NYC that would be Delmonico's (est. 1837). For both the food and atmosphere, it can't be beat.

That's a great choice Mr Foody
I can get a salad, steak, and fries for $72!!
I'll make sure to have a glass of wine and a peach dessert for another $30-$40 so I can impress all the Applebee lovers in my hometown that I laid out over a hundred bucks for one meal. They will be so jealous of me. Thanks for the recommendation
Any time someone mentions guy fieri I think of this:

You've never been to NYC have you?
If you want authentic and delicious NYC cuisine you should make your way up to Harlem or the Heights and eat at a Wimpy's restaurant.

Cool! But not everyone enjoys eating like a 20 year old college student. Some people like to have a nice meal experience.
You're the guy that travels to Paris and is excited to find a McDonalds, aren't you?

Well, if you can't find pizza, I'm sure you can enjoy the local Tastee Freeze there.

Instead, you should eat at the Olive Garden in Times Square. Your friends back home will be jealous that you got to eat a such a special Olive Garden. Busloads of diners flock to this Olive Garden to enjoy the great Italian food that New York is known for.
