I particularly like their non-running resolutions.

You'd think a guy at his level would have a competitive goal, not a workout goal, and why would he care how fast he can run a 400?
This is really funny. We have guys even in the US that can close a 5K run at Hall's marathon pace in 53 seconds. Many of them.

Rupp, Lagat, who else?
Besides, I would love to see Lagat trying to run a 2,06 marathon.
because he's noticed fast marathoners are fast.
nice goal. 2:20 1000m would be a good one for him too.
One of European/Commonwealth/Boston Champion Ron Hill's regular workouts was sprinting two 400s during his lunch hour. Maybe it will help him.

Did Ron Hill train twice a day during that period? That 2x400 or even a few 200's seems like a good idea for a workout if you only have a 30 minute window to get a run in. I'd guess he was likely running an hour in the am and an hour in the pm as well.

You think that only Rupp and Lagat can run a 53 at the end of a 14:30ish 5k? I'd bet that every sub 4 miler in the US could do that.

How about winning a marathon?
Kind of a big deal since he hasn't won one yet,
excluding the Olympic trials.
I think he may have been trying 3x day during that period. If I could do it all over again, I think I would try more volume at slighlty lower but still race level quality. Do things 25x400 at 5k pace instead of 10x400 @1.5k or 6-8x1 mile at 10k pace versus 4x1 mile @ 5k for most of the season.

NONE of them stated a competitive goal. Apparently not what Runner's World had in mind for the article.
Should be finish a race. Hell lets go easier, just start one.
