Washington and Oregon are a couple of the few states that allow Naturopathic doctors to prescribe medicine and perform surgery. These dudes are such quacks they make Chiropractors look like geniuses. Some of their "treatments" include hot towel treatments and "vital force" rejuvenation???? WTF?

The so called "quack" treatments have been here FAR LONGER than the "real" treatments and the "quack" treatments work better (and do less harm!).

It's true that "establishment" medicine has its faults, but it is kind of nice not having to worry about your kids (or yourself) dying of smallpox, polio, or numerous other illnesses for which conventional medicine has developed vaccines. People that have had cancer cured through chemotherapy probably appreciate conventional medicine. Or, I'd like to see someone remove a brain tumor with hot towel treatments or homeopathy.

Clearly you have done a whole five minutes of research, a similar time period of thought your doctor will do prior to suggesting surgery. I for one would rather have a treatment plan based on me, not all people need or want to support the drug industry. In the end your snake doctor has more training by hours and hours if again you did your research, which you did not, than a conventional practitioner. But it's easier to bash what we don't know or don't understand than to research. There are quacks in every profession and if you took just that one example you would be in the Stone Age never leaving your house. Good luck sir in your pursuit of knowledge as limited and short your path may be.

Folks like you really crack me up. The defining characteristic of "alternative medicine" (aka quack treatments) is that it consists of practices and 'medicines' that have never been able to be proven effective in scientifically valid studies.
So your decision making appears to amount to "As long as it has never been proven to be effective then I will think it is effective".
This is just the first two years of a comparison of curriculum which is easily searchable. Four years plus six is not the average by any means for an md, so I am sure your are including your fellowship? Either way that is quite extensive.
