Why are most bathtubs so freaking small?

I'm 5'5" why is everything built for the vertically privileged?

e.g. - shelves, clothes, hurdles, etc.

And not having to duck to take a shower in EVERY SHOWER EVER because the installers think there's no way anyone could possibly be over 5'10".

Because most hot water heaters are so freaking small.

If they could make a much more efficient hot water heater with double capacity, bathtubs would get larger quickly. In a large bathtub now, the final 20% of the water is cold because the hot water heater is empty.

Same reason plywood comes in 4x8 sheets-it's small enough for one or two human beings to carry up a ladder, through a framed door, and set down without breaking the tub, or straining their back.

Seriously, bigger things-even just a little, are a lot tougher to install.

My whirlpool tub is quite expansive

Im 5"9 and its still small for me. I live in Japan a lot and the baths here are way better. The baths here are shorter but much deeper which makes fora great bath experience. Then again, the explanation for great baths is a bath culture in Japan

I actually wish they'd just build bathrooms without the tub. A tub isn't really the right shape for a shower, and most people shower daily and never take a bath. I'd rather have a wide open shower than have to stand in a little narrow tub. But for some reason, every apartment I've lived in has had the shower/tub combo instead of just having a shower with no tub.

Bathtubs come in many different sizes, but the larger they are the more expensive they tend to be. The standard has always been something like a 30-36" width and 6'-0" length, with the basin being a bit narrower and shorter for the lip of the tub. Smaller tubs are a product of various constraints or a desire to cut costs. Many development or tract houses have smaller tubs or drop in tubs because they're cheaper, especially when bought in large quantities for developers.

And standard plywood is 4x8 because wood-frame construction is modular and studs are 8' tall and placed at 16" intervals.

Last year I have installed the small size bathtube and hot water heater with the help of all week heating( http://allweekheating.com/) in my house because my bathroom area is small that's why i had bought small size bathtube. So I think that most of the bathroom areas are small that's why most of the Bathtubes size are small.

It also sucks when you feel like crap and want to soak and get warm, but can't afford a freaking hot tub. Baths feel great when you are sick but not so much when your knees and chest stick out above the water.

When we remodeled out bathroom, my wife surprised me with a 6' long jetted tub. For the first time since junior high school, I can get my entire body underwater at the same time.

It is glorious.
