An all-time list i have ranks Alan's PB as no.75, that is pretty impressive yes but far from being a great, maybe even some cheats ahead of him (which is very possible) so he may belong higher. If Alan can ever break into the top 15 by running -3:30 that would be amazing.

Stupid thread. Webb was obviously mentally shaken in Athens. Season Over. Shut down. A nice nice season. Obviously some resting for a while, some mint chocolate chip ice cream back in Reston with Mom and Dad, then training for some Cross events this fall and on to better things next year.

Webb is back in the dog house again. The guy is having a roller coaster career so far.
he's only having a roller coaster career according to people on this board. it seems to me like he's developing (the key word) into a miler. i must have missed it when it became true that milers peak at 21 or 22.
maybe you should check that list for how many runners achieved those times by his age; might be slightly more impressive.
I think the next step in his development is the 3:49 mile. That could be possible by next year. By then it will have been 14 years since an American miler has broken 3:50. A sub 3:50 mile is not only an important step for Webb but for US mile running in general.
Fast Fact:
In 1982 the US had 3 active sub 3:50 milers. Of course they were Steve Scott, Jim Spivey, and Sidney Maree.

you all should know that alan webb, is still developing into a runner. you guys, "the associated press", should be ashamed because alan webb has achieved physical feats that your pitiful human bodies will never achieve. the first human to ever run a sub-4 mile was 25. so i think that he still has 4 more years of developing into the "perfect miler".
