Personally, I dont take much note of age group records, however their athlete records are pretty impressive to say the least.

Where do you find out about the world records for certain ages? My mate reckons he has the world 10km road best for a 15 year old.

Casual fan why don't you find another sport to follow, the discussion about the Africans' ages is old, unfounded today, and trivial. The problem was prominent maybe a decade ago but not today and if you don't accept the fact that the leading body of Track and Field recognize their ages then why follow a sport you don't trust?

One other thing why not look at the athlete(s) in question before making stupid comments, Richard Kipchumba looks his age which is 16. Try commenting or contributing to the subject matter next time-juvie.

It going to be exciting to see if Richard Kipchumba can break all of Saif Saeed Shaheen age group records including the WJR. I think the WYB17 is a given but the next is might be tough even for Richard Kipchumba.

Whereas I have no reason to doubt his age or attack his truthfulness, he looks much much older. I also met a 19 yr old white guy who to me looks 30 and balding. After all, are you suggesting that Kenyans start running in their mid twenties or are you suggesting that if they shine, they can never be teenagers?? Your story is tired. IT IS AS OLD AS THE HILLS.

My problem with this age counting business is really confusing, especially on this board! For instance, some readears on this board seemed to doubt the age of some talented young runners and accuse them for running-old in disguise of young age.

But a funny thing happen on the way to Panathinaiko Stadium when the 49 yr old guy from Israel (originally from Ethiopia) became 19th, beating most of the young runners. Lots of people start wondering if he really was 49, after all he is from Ethiopia, a powerhouse in distance running, therefore his age must be wrong.

When young runners win, Oh they must be old! The oldest guy in the Olympics ran and ranked 19th, Oh, he must be younger! What is going on?????

Vipam, I'm the coach of both, and my answer is NO WAY that Ronald (not Richard) Kipchumba Rutto can beat in the future the records of Shaheen. The talent of the two runners is completely different : speed, reactivity, killer instinct. Ronald can become, in the future, a vefry good long runner, but forget for him steeple at top level. Brimin Kipruto, for example, is very much more talented for this event. And, about the age, I can answer to you thru your e-mail, if you want, for telling the real date of birth of the athletes, and you can have some surprise...

I also think Brimin Kipruto is an excellent talent and should also join the sub 8 minute steeple club and you being the coach you know your athletes better than I ever would. It would seem to me that going from the tape I saw of Ronald Kipchumba at the World Jr meet that he too possesses the ability/talent to go sub 8 minutes in the future. Will Moses Mosop run another 10000m this year? I know alittle about Ronald's age but we won't discuss it on this board Renato.

why the hell not - you're the one that brought it up in the first place. first you reject the notion that the ages might be different and now you act like you've got some secret information. dammit, pick your side and stay there. oh wait, that's not your tactic is it. your tactic is to make predictions and then when you're wrong and people call you out you attack them instead of admitting your mistake. let's face it man, renato publicly set you straight about your obsession with the kenyan ages and you try to play it off. they're old, accept it and move on.

Renato, what do you mean by "reactivity?" Also, are there any signs that Shaheen could further lower the WR?

Vipam, the only record that matters is the WR where age is not a concern. Like who cares who the best or fastest 15-18 is?
