How far apart were the Open Men and Masters Men races at Club Nats, and in which order were they run? It appears at least one gentleman ran both...

12:00 p.m. Open Women's 6 km
12:45 Open Men's 10 km
I'd have run both two if I were him and got destroyed in the Masters division. That way he can say OH I did two races.
How about you run well in one instead of piss poor in two to gain attention? Not admirable

Have you considered the possiblity that Mr Steidl knew that he was running CLUB Nationals, and thought that perhaps he could contribute to his CLUB in 2 different races? Which he did: he was the #1 guy on his masters team (and 3rd individual master), and the #2 guy on his open team.
Come on, really, are you that much of an a**hole that when somebody goes out and takes 3rd in the masters race, then comes back 1.5 hours later and runs solidly to help his team in the open race, all you can do is complain? You are so hard to please that 3rd overall master counts as "piss-poor"? What have you ever done that was so great by comparison?
I thought you were talking about someone who rejected the artificial construct of gender and ran the men's race in shorts and then ran the women's race in bunhuggers.

Yes, and he just won the Seattle Marathon for the 58th time a couple weeks ago.
WHy would anyone want to win that awful, non competitive race so many times. He is an elite right? Why dominate your local guys. Go play with the big boys
i don't think uli would consider himself elite, though he is indeed an elite masters runner, and he has definitely spent enough time running with "the big boys" over his career. i'd imagine uli would have won the masters race if he could, but that was a pretty tough field (lee troop, the winner, is a sub 2:10 marathoner, and ran 2:10 not so long ago in 2007).
i don't know uli, so it's hard to say whether or not the conditions affected him more or less than others (the course certainly would have neutralized those with advantages in speed), but two sub-35 x-c 10ks a couple of hours apart are pretty impressive....
Uli's effort is particularly impressive given the difficulty of the course and the competitiveness of both fields. There's no doubt you slow down when you age, but Uli is fighting the good fight. Looking through the list of master's guys who ran, it is one of the most competitive master's only fields ever assembled.
If you're under 40, you can't be expected to understand what happens at or around 40 (sometimes a littler younger, sometimes a little older). To be racing at the level of the to 25 master's guys in that race is impressive.

why? the masters race was first so the quality of the masters division was irrelevant with respect to the double. if anything, you should be making your ignorant and snide comment about how weak the open division was given that a masters runner ran the masters race and then shortly thereafter ran -- and ran well -- in the open race. he certainly beat a lot of younger guys who had not just run the exact same race on the exact same tough course.
