Congrats to Jake Krong for running a new PR of 2:20:41. Chipping away at that OT standard!
But was at 2:19:30 pace through 20 miles. He'll get there soon :-(

Kiptoo came in after Dallas was cancelled and led most of the race but slowed in the last 10K and got passed.
Wade and Siemers both got the A Standard.
Becky Wade lowering the boom in her marathon debut!

CIM is net downhill isn't it? But it still counts for the Trials?
Anyone know how much faster this course is? How would the 2:14 and 2:31 compare to a record-eligible course like Chicago?

It's net downhill but you barely notice it. It's not a super aided course or anything.

It's downhill but only a little bit. The standard for eligibility is no more than 0.1% net downhill (i.e. 42.2 m or 138' 6" over a marathon). The overall flatness, straightness, and weather conditions on a course would be more important factors than that degree of downhill assistance.

That is the standard for record eligibility but I don't think that is right for a Trials qualifier. I believe they massaged it so Boston qualifies, which is considerably outside the record eligible criteria.
Boston drops 475'.
CIM drops 340'.
Anyone know what happened to Tesfaye Alemayehu? He was with the leaders through 20 miles.
I think he's won this race twice.
Becky is now officially our Qtest 2:30 marathoner:

Anyone know this scott smith/2:16?
Scott Smith is a member of McMillan Elite. This may've been his marathon debut. He ran 28:35 for 10k in college and was a 9:06 two-miler in HS. It'll be interesting to see where he goes from here.
Glad the Julius Koskei got second, instead of winning. Too many guys in his training group have failed drug tests and the guy has run some amazing performances this fall. It doesn't help that his manager is a former women's Russian national champ mid-d runner.

According to ARRS, it currently has a race time bias of +8 seconds, based on data of elites since 2000. Houston, Chicago, and Los Angeles are considered faster.
http://www.arrs.net/TB_Mara.htmCIM Facebook saying this was the 5th fastest marathon of 2013 for an American woman.
USATF doesn't have a marathon listing this year. How do they know that?

The last 10k apparently had a somewhat of a headwind, and he picked off quite a few guys in the last 10k, so it's not really much of a blowup. Also, Jake's PR was 2:21:46 at Utah Valley Marathon, so it's still a minute+ PR. Definitely his best performance in the marathon.
