Virginia is kind of the Washington State of the South Region -- not a small-population state by any means, but certainly no Texas or Florida or Michigan or Ohio or Illinois. Virginia consistently sends a disproportionate number of kids to the national finals in cross-country, unless my memory and perception are off.

Hopefully soccer season (career?) is over for Mr. Fisher now...

She did. She didn't win regionals but she qualified for nationals by placing in the top 10 according to a Milesplit Twitter post. Not sure why the FL site is so slow posting results for their own races...

What's taking them so long to get out the complete Northeast results? Midwest and South have had their full results out since like 2 PM EST.

How was the course in Kenosha? I heard a possible reroute was talked about.

Virginia has the 12th largest population among states with 8.2 million and Michigan is 9th with 9.9 million, so not that much smaller.

This is the first year in many years that I do not recognize ANY of the finalist names (male or female)

In the past years, there was always somebody (or many people in some years). There was always a Cheserek, LV, Haile, Hasay, Rupp, Ritz, Hall, Webb, Acosta, Solinsky...

This year, nothing...

No buildup for any of these guys.

At least one of them has to be good... worth while to build up a little...

Nike cross nationals, on the other hand, will have Baxter...

NXN will have Baxter and Ephraimson. I think that race will be closer than a lot of people think.

What matters is being big in your region, since each region sends the same number. Given the running backgrounds of the various states, VA has a bit of an advantage over Michigan, which is competing against Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, S.D., N.D., Iowa, MN, (just guessing, but there are some states with pretty good running history there) and three are bigger in population than VA).

Footlocker has 40 others who are ready to replace them.
