last year I ran a 2:10 800m in May off training once/twice a week and playing soccer. This year ive really stepped up my training, I train with my club 5 times a week and have quit soccer. Do you think sub 2 minutes is a realistic goal come May? last year was my first doing any sort of athletics
Yes, it is possible. I ran 2:14-2:09 my first two years of running (freshman and sophomore years of high school) and was down to 2:00 as a junior. I did not ramp up my training in any way and did little to no running in the offseason. At the time, my 1600m PR was 4:39 and my 400m PR was 55 high.
What are your PRs in other distances?
I ran a 4:55 1500m a few months before my 2:10 800m, id suspect I could run a very good 400m compared to other distances under 55 anyway, I ran a 19:10 min 5k cross country a month after commencing training again this season, im in much better shape now though ( been training 3 months this season) Thanks for the feedback
