Anybody do a significant run on a boardwalk? I'm looking at doing a half marathon in the spring, and 9 miles of it are on the boardwalk. Obviously it's super flat and perfect for a pr effort, but I'm wondering if running on the boardwalk is slower or faster than running on asphalt?
It's softer, which I guess should beat the legs up less, but is it TOO soft/uneven?
The only frame of reference I can think of are indoor tracks. I've always run fast at BU's indoor track, which I believe is wood. Though I'm not sure if the rubber coating impacts the quality of running on it.
