Can anyone give me advise on how to train for this 1500m goal for the next 8-10 weeks? I have not raced for 12 months - had a little foot problem this summer.
My 200m speed is about 25sec. I have averaged 80miles/week over the last 12 months (lost 6 weeks in summer). Usually volume weeks of ca. 90-90-70.
I have not done any anaerobic (10k pace faster) work in 12 months, but always weekly strides and drills. The typical week for the last 3 months is usually 1 or 2 slow 90min runs (7min mile) on hills. About 4 or 5 40-60min runs at medium pace (5:25-55) (heart rate from 150-168 in the end), and then just easy runs/jogs 7-7:40/mile.
i did my first workout today 4 x 400m at 60-61sec with 1min rest and the last one felt way too hard, just a shock. So any comments on how much you think I need to do of this fast work? Maybe I should aim for a slower race? I have not raced 800/1500/mile, but I ran 14:38 5000m before this 12 month base.
