Kawauchi was up at 5 this morning to run 18 km in Central Park before leaving for the airport at 7:15 a.m. A direct flight to Tokyo arriving around 2:30 p.m., then straight to work. He usually works around 12:30 to 9:30 p.m. and only took a half day off so he will get to work at about 5 p.m. and work the second half of the day.

I wonder what his appearance fee is. $1500, however, is not too bad of a payday for 11th (assuming travel and hotel was comped).

Do any of the shoe guys here know if the shoe he was in, I believe it's called the PE Racer, will be on the market here? With the Piranha gone I'm looking for a replacement and that looks promising.

What is your point. I was back at work the next day after alll my marathons. And I didn't get a preferred start or elite treatment. Nor did I have a long flight to rest on.

The point is, you didn't get preferential treatment, and didn't have to fly, means you're a true-life hobby-jogger. Nobody cares about your running.

As a Japanese civil servant he's prohibited from making promotional appearances. He can win prize money but not take appearance fees because they're construed as promotional appearances.
Those images prove why Kim Smith is a horrendous marathoner. Her footstrike energy goes straight downward when compared to the Africans toe-off.
