LRC polls are entertaining. Shows the true ignorence of the LRC crowd.
Post the truth, Super fan #1. How should they all be ranked?
I know I'm ignorant so avoid the conference polls.
There seems to be a (not un-anticipated) problem with these polls. Specifically, some voters are voting strategically. I illustrate one such possibility with the Big Ten Conference:
With 12 teams there are 12 points for first, 11 for second, etc. Michigan State got the majority of first place votes, 6 for 72 points. Since they totaled only 84 points, rather than getting second place votes for 11 each and a total of 94, they are ranked, on average at 7th place on the other two ballots. My guess is that one gave them second (11) and the other gave them last (1). Either that (and similar ballots should be tossed or otherwise adjusted). Specifically, I recommend that tossing any ballot that gives a team a last-place vote but that has a majority (or the most) of the first place votes from other ballots.
