John Campbell broke the 40+ masters record in 1990 running 2:14:34.
The reason it doesn't show on that list you linked is that he ran faster elsewhere and that list shows a performer's best time.
I think Campbell still has the record.

Correct. John's 1990 NYC masters record has never been eclipsed. Nor has his 1990 masters performance in Boston.
I was just running with John Campbell a couple weeks ago in a 10k. I pulled up beside him about 3 miles into the race. I'm sure he looked over and thought there is no way I'm getting beat by Winnie the Pooh. He passed me back and I couldn't keep up with him. I didn't know it was him until after the race but how great is it I got to race against the Boston and New York marathon masters record holder.

John Campbell is a straight-up baller. I remember when he ran those record times. He made the cover of Runners World which I affixed to my wall for most of my high school years. Couldn't get over the idea that he was cruising at
....sub 16min 5K pace yet I couldn't match that for 1/8th the distance. Good on ya' Campbell, and way to run down Pooh at 60+ years of age. Screw that British honey-hound of a bear.

I ran a 5k a few years ago and Dan Dillon finished right in front of me and Bill Rodgers coming off an injury finished right behind me. I was a little faster then and without the pooh head. The whole race I could hear the cheers for Bill so I knew how far behind he was.
I don't think many people at the 10k knew who John Campbell was but I got some big cheers as the Pooh.
Well congratulations, now save some honey for the rest of us why don't you.
j/k, both of these are cool stories. Rodgers would have beat you down on pride alone had you been wearing a bear-head.
JC was a fearless runner and set world records despite a full-time job. Never met anyone tougher than that old Kiwi.
Did Andres Espinoza run NYC after he turned 40?
He ran 3 marathons after turning 40, none at NYC.
I once outkicked Amelia Bedelia just because I could. Best f'ing day of my life.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
