Ca$hclay- Damn those are some solid training sessions, especially in a week where you've bumped up the miles a bit. It definitely looks like you're ready to rip one as you said. Are your mid-November races XC races? Any chance you would be able to get in a turkey trot 5K to knock out a solid PR?
CMM268- Oh nice, sounds like you know your way around as well. I am pretty much "winging it" with my training right now as I still consider myself to be in a building phase. I do plan on injecting workouts here and there, and the workouts are mainly from Daniels Running Formula. I am thinking of using the Hansons advanced plan for the Boston buildup though.
Perkunas- That sounds brutal, although there's supposedly something like that near where I live that's nicknamed "The incline". The unofficial world record is around 17-18 minutes or something, which I am thinking of trying one day.

Thx. Yes, the rest of my races are CC - I've got 2 more left in this series and neither are 5Ks. I'm also entered in a 5K on Thanksgiving day but it is also a CC ba!!buster and has a brutal climb so no chance of a PR there. May have to wait until Spring.
i was thinking about this on my commute this morning, and i figured i should pose the question here:
am i doing too many easy runs?
i posted last week on page one, and i noticed that a good chunk of my runs are easy. the only runs that aren't easy are the moderate 8 miler i did on wednesday, the long run on saturday, and my workouts naturally. everything else is easy 4-6 miles usually at 7:30-7:45 pace. i feel like i am progressing well through my cycle, since just a couple weeks ago, i was doing VDOT paces for an 18:20 5k, now i'm closer to 17:30.
thoughts?
Raman: all other runs should be easy other than your workouts. Sure you can have moderate days and the long run can be considered a workout. Those easy days are to get recovered for your next workout. The fitness gains do not come from easy days.
this is an interesting point, even in base training? which i consider myself to be in right now. summer of malmo, et al. they advocate runs with one tempo and one interval, which is pretty much what i'm doing.
Thats just how i do it. Wheni was doing 5k stuff (didnt last long). I had a tempo, intervals, and a long run. Everything else was easy. I was so beat from the intervals and tempo i needed the recovery days. Now i only have 1 long workout and 1-2 long runs a week. Everything else is still easy.
To my friends on the LR RR&T thread, thanks for all the kind words this week. I was lucky enough to meet some of you this year in Boston and I look forward to meeting more of you somewhere along the way. In the meantime, keep running and keep posting.
Here's to some good miles ahead.
Better late than never.
The Stone Cutter: Nice week, hope getting back into training goes smoothly.
Forcerunner: Congrats on the PR!!!
Flying Kilt: Very nice week. So did you win the money?
Portland: Nice week and good luck with your upcoming races!
Ghola: Sorry about the sprain. Hope it gets better. I can't really offer much help, unfortunately :(
reed: Kick some butt this weekend!
Logan Decker: Sorry about the rough week but keep your head up.
Ramanujan: Thanks dude. Not sure if it was smart, but I survived.
Np1112: oh holy crap that's actually high mileage, and I'm not usually phased by high mileage
VF Runner: Thanks. For some reason, I don't get colds and stuff like that a lot, but when I get sick it's usually something really excruciating in my abdomen somewhere. So, there's that, I guess. I wouldn't recommend running after ER visits, I think I'm just neurotic.
printer: I'm really sorry for your loss. I hope you are doing alright.
Good luck to everyone running NY!
Wow, very nice results! But may I suggest trying Flex Belt which would help strengthen your muscles. It would surely give you great results! This video would help - http://www.youtube.com/EasiestWorkout
