you can see him obviously tearing up... relax man you were 5th, but you will never beat the top guys, best just call it a day.

He didn't look that way to me.
Maybe he needs to run the 400m a bit faster.

Ritz =/= Galen/Mo
P.S. drugs work
sounds like it
He's not crying. Just trashed after a 5th place, sub-2:10 marathon.
Isn't Ritz 5'7"? The cameraman must be a midget.

You know, it's possible to change your 400m speed. It's not fixed.

When did you call it a day -- middle school?
ritz had some tears at the finish
mediocrity is tough to swallow , knowing that you a mile behind the best without a chance in hell of getting close no matter how how hard you train. You realize in that moment Im average , Ill never be world ranked again , Ill never win a major , Ill be designated as top american in the class that in the end means you've accepted mediocrity.

However bad a day it was for Ritz, he still did better than Moses Mosop and Z Tadese, who are a couple of very accomplished runners. And how could he not be upset? He trained well, he hit 30k right on schedule and then he started cramping, which just sucks. Will he ever be among the very best in the world? No. Could he still break 2:07? sure. Is he mediocre? Kind of, but no more or less mediocre then Solinsky, who's put up some nice times but never put a scare into the best in the world.
He got fifth at Chicago. He's run 2:07. He IS among the best in the world. Everyone needs to STFU.
No, unless you watched something other than what you posted.
Keep telling yourself that to make yourself feel better.

Seriously. In the USATF OT marathon last year he was FOURTH. Now he's fifth at Chicago. He should be happy.

Ritz is just as good as them actually. He just is more injury prone. With all his injuries the fact he's still run 12:56, 60:00 for 3rd in world champs is ridiculous. You think Galen or Mo would even still be racing if they had gone through all Ritz has?

Is there some backstory here...or do you seriously think Ritz needs more speed to run a good marathon?
He's not. Ritz is from West Michigan where lots of people talk with nasally voices that can sound like crying, but isn't.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
