If he makes it to the start in NYC, will Hall beat Ritz's 2:09:47?

No.
Hall is obviously a better marathoner, but if it weren't for his larger fan base that probably overlaps those of Dean Karnazes and Josh Cox, I think his sponsorship would be wayyy less.
Ritz gives US running so much more. Hall hides away and occasionally runs a single interesting race per year.
i love me some ritz

Where's Brian Sell when you need him.
Hall who? If he does not run a decent race at New York I would say he is done as a professional runner. DNS at last half marathon is not a good sign.
Ryan Hall and Rob Gronkowski have the same doctor.

He bombed the NYC half-marathon in 2011 just before running 2'04'58 at boston, 3 seconds behind the guy the won NYC the previous year.
Ritz is better than Hall at life.
I try not to even think about Ryan Hall anymore. And in an unrelated development, I think he tries really hard not to even think about running anymore. And he pulls out of races now without any explanation a all, almost like he hopes no one will notice.

Except for that one time when Ritz beat Hall in the 2008 Olympic Marathon.
Oh, and 2012 when Hall dropped out, and Ritz ran a solid 10k.
Oh, and when Ritz beat him in 2003 at NCAA XC. And 2000 Footlocker XC.
Hall is doing a better job marketing himself, but Ritz is the superior runner.
Different races. Doesn't matter. I was hoping Ritz would run better today, but marathoning is not easy. I hope Hall does well at NYC. I hope Meb does well.
Why the Hall hate?

A better measure would be if Hall finishes within 6 minutes of the winner at NY, because Ritz didn't today.

So you only use one marathon result which is cherry picked for the one time he beat him. While all the other races are irrelevant to either of their marathon running history?
Great argument....
I seem to recall Ryan Hall running the last 5k of the 2008 trials like he was finishing a Color Run, cruising in and beating Ritz by 2 min. Ritz is a great runner but he's not in Hall's class in the marathon. 10k, yes, marathon no.
does hall get a pace band/?
I think both these guys can squeeze a few more years out as national class marathoners, running times similar to what Ron Tabb and Benji Durden ran. The future of USA marathoning is looking pretty grim right now.
What about Ritz vs Chad Hall?
