That commerical is stupid. Though I'm entertained by the grimacing sprinters up in the front.
That commercial could be really cool, but Nike half-assed the production of it. They needed at least 300 runners in order to make the herd look cool. 50 simply is not enough. They also should have had them go over hills and stuff. Cool concept- very poorly executed.
i know a couple of the women in the commercial-- top southern california distance runners...
Its kinda like top 40 pop music. Put makeup on people and make them perfect looking to sell to the masses. But the product is overpriced and so unfulfilling and all you want is your money back.
...and meanwhile the Nike commercial is appealing to precisely the target audience they're after which is not hard core letsrun ad reviewers. They're aim is for mall shoppers.
You guys may not like what you see in the ads, desire to see this, that or the other in them but, look, they succeeded because they got you talking. They are mini-movies designed to appeal to a broad base of buyers.
The commercial is made up of mostly Nike sponsered runners (for obvious resaons). A lot of the people run for the Nike farm team, including former CMU standouts Jeff Delong and Mari Chandler.
I believe Mari Chandler is not only a former CMU runner but a former Farm Team runner as she lives back in MI now and has for most of the year.

But they are in front where sprinters will always be.
Bolden was not in the commercial.
I do think it's kind of lame that they are appearing to run so unrealistically fast over long distances. I guess it's supposed to remind us of those dinosaurs in Jurassic Park.
"They DO move in herds!"
I, on the other hand, like it.
I think it's a pretty sweet comercial. You poeple sound like the crazed sci-fi fans who will disect the upcoming Star Trek XXIII or whatever number it is looking for any minor plot errors or inconsistencies with the show. Give it up. It's an entertaining comercial that gives appeal and recognition to the sport in a format that lot's of people can appreciate. That doesn't mean you have to buy the product.
Right on BurkeBC,
The commercial was very well executed and aesthetically pleasing. Nike did something to make our sport look intriguing and stylized and all you can do is whine. Too bad Nike products suck and are over priced. However; I think it would be a great ad for letsrun.com...maybe next year.
I think Jorge Torres is in the commercial. Anyone else see that? It looks like it's filmed in Boulder.
It looked like it was filmed in Africa. It made me want to get up and run again.
It was filmed in northern California.

Agreed. At least someone is promoting running in primetime.
You're kidding, right?
It was filmed over three days just north of San Fransisco. There were several actors and the remainder were Nike runners, most of whom run for the Farm Team.
The commercial was filmed just north of San Francisco. There are a bunch of Farm Teamers in there, no Boldon and no Torres.
Mari Chandler is still here and still running for the Farm Team. She was 3rd recently in the PA XC Championships in Golden Gate Park.
