Why are the majority of Americans frightened by Socialism?
Why are the majority of Americans frightened by Socialism?
I don't know. I mean France, Spain, Italy, and Greece are all doing great.
Who wouldn't want their economy like those?
France, Spain, Italy, Greece and the good old U.S.A are all being raped by capitalism.
America enjoys many aspects of socialism but the word itself is a buzzword used to rile people up.
Because when you accumulate more and more lazy freeloaders, you eventually run out of the hardworking people's money.
Yes, don't be. I am slowly taking away all your rights and under Socialism I and the government will control every facet of your life. Who needs life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
Barack Obama is many things a socialist is not one. Under true socialism there will be no government. The people will be the government and everybody will provide what they can and get what they need.

I will say there are more freeloaders now.
But the "hardworking" people that make a lot of money have more money than ever. They are insanely rich.
They are in no danger of running out of money.
I used to be afraid of socialism, but if the NFL, isn't, why should I?

You say they are rich. Some are very rich. But for many, and I do mean many, they are already paying a lot in taxes. Now I am hearing stories of their health insurance premiums going up tenfold with huge deductibles. You add that in with all the other taxes they pay, and they are certainly not insanely rich.
How much money one earns has very little to do with how hard they work. That is one of the numerous problems of a capitalist economy

The us doesn't have true capitalism--very few places do.
We do have crony capitalism though, if that is what you are referring to.
Imagine how bad true capitalism would be. Eventually people will wake up and realise that by its very nature capitalism is destructive to humanity.

take a look at "the gilded age" in American history. Although not quite true capitalism, it is the closest we've been. Robber barrons, little government intervention, no worker safety laws, child labor laws, etc. Essentially there were a few obscenely rich owners with many many impoverished workers.
Any time that a small percentage of the population own a large percentage of the wealth, you automatically have problems.

False dichotomy. Crony capitalism isn't a system. It's certainly widespread, but it exists in discrete instances against a generally capitalist landscape.
As for socialism, the biggest problem isn't freeloading, it's the amount of power that you have to give the state in order to have a socialist system. The decisions that the state makes will often involve deeply held values, which inevitably means that there will be social conflict and political stalemate. The only way to break the deadlock is to then delegate the hard decisions to unaccountable administrative agencies that will pretend that they're simply applying their technical "expertise," even though the choices they make are inherently political and value-laden.
Abolish the state my friend.
Capitalists own the media
Workers distribute the media. When we realise that our strength is in our numbers then we will be free.

Gee, now where have I heard that before?
People will provide what they can? And who exactly is going to make them?
People will get (only) what they need and not grab what they can? And who exactly is going to stop them?
1/10
Come on, you gotta do better than this. What you're providing definitely aint what I need. Now, get cracking!
