Apparently, Dibaba thought that she was being passed in last 100M by a lapped Chinese runner, so she didn't bother trying to catch her.

Thanks for making me spew Pepsi out of my nose. Funny, funny post!
The she's obviously blind as well as stupid. The Chinese woman was up there all the time.
Doh!
Hey.
It is an easy mistake to make.
The 10K can be very tricky...laps to count, runners who are lapping the field, etc.
Racial profiling.
You are the stupid one who does not know what you are saying because you were not there and you can't read dibaba's mind.

Wouldn't she be concerned about any runner passing her in the last 100m?
Why would a lapped runner be passing a runner a lap ahead of her in the leading runner's last 100m?
Pretty lame if you ask me.

Presumably the initial post was based on article-reading rather than mind-reading. See
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/olympics_2004/athletics/3597228.stmDefending champion Tulu was well placed with 400m to go and looked as if she would sprint clear to gold as she had done in Sydney.
But Xing Huina accelerated past Dibaba coming into the home straight to stun the Ethiopians.
Afterwards however, Dibaba was convinced she had won gold, thinking that Xing was a lapped runner and refused to accept for several minutes that she had come second.
"I didn't see where the Chinese girl came from," she explained, adding that she thought she could have overtaken Xing had she known.
The Ethiopians said they had been looking out for the other Chinese runner, world bronze medallist Sun Yingjie, and had not paid attention to Xing.
why would a lapped runner be blazing down the homestretch in a 10k?
She should have looked around at least 203 times after the pack had separated to see who was in the pack, and who wasn't.
I've run plenty of 10s on the track (as has Ryan), but I always knew who was around me.
That's a dumb excuse for NOT KICKING.
The Ethiopians said they had been looking out for the other Chinese runner, world bronze medallist Sun Yingjie, and had not paid attention to Xing.
-- How could she tell which Chinese runner it was that was passing her? I don't buy it.
"All of those Chinese girls look the same"

I can understand where the Ethiopians are coming from--don't all Chinese, Asians for that matter, look the same to everybody. Just kidding
"...adding that she thought she could have overtaken Xing had she known."
WTF? Then why didn't you!? It's the last 100 of the Olympic final! Just jogging it in?
Thanks, I didn't know that.
Haile Fan, do you live in Colorado?
I'm sorry, but I just cannot believe that she thinks a woman who was in a back with her for most of the race was someone she was lapping. This doesn't wash.
Yes, why?
The Ethiopian was far from jogging in. They were both sprinting side by side until the Chinese lady pulled ahead 40m before the finish.

That was even funnier than Chinese Runner Girl's post.
