Yes, the ability to run fast is 100% genetic (as mom Zola is also proving by dominating women half her age).
And while I'm on the subject of Zola, no doubt in my mind she was genetically the greatest. She was a bit sensitive, couldn't really run out the rest of the race after tripping with Mary Decker Slaney and let the incident sour her on racing, but she was really untouchable.
The daughter is Lisa Pieterse. Google her and you'll see her mom's face, her mom's stride, her mom's way of holding her arm's while running, and her mom's outdated habit of wearing a watch and looking at it during races. Also a bunch of articles about her breaking high school records (she seems to do it every meet).
