Having spent two plus weeks in Russia for worlds, we disagree with the tone. We think it's awesome how a guy on the side of the road just whipped out a lighter and re-lit the Olympic torch as shown here:

We are thinking of typing up a "10 things I bet you didn't know about Russia" from our visit to Moscow for the World Champs. One definitely would be "Cigarettes are cheap." You can buy a pack for $1.
To us, it shows the new sort of capitalistic spirit in Russia.
