Lesson: Don't run at Valley Forge.
What exactly was the charge, running in a park?
That is crazy.
I hope he sues the heck out of them.
Just send the bill to Ted Cruz, and cc the Koch Brothers.
indeed
He should of known he would be pushing his luck.
So they can pay someone to hand out tickets but can't actually open the park? That's ridiculous.
Aw that sucks. I go there all the time. Nice job Harry Reid.
The government sucks, always stealing from people, making stupid antiquated laws, so they can steal more and keep people in slavery, killing people all over the world.
The sooner the government is abolished the better.
Person deserved the ticket...couldn't out run the 5-0!
what kind of runner was he?.....I get chased, yelled at, spot lighted, blow horned..... all the time in the Forest Preserves...especially at night......no way would those fat as*s would ever catch me!
If the park rangers were waiting by his car as he returned it sounds like the problem may be with his parking. Maybe the lot was closed but not physically barred.
I've been running in a national park (SF Presidio) every single day since the shutdown. I've come across plenty of park rangers, more than usual in fact, without so much as a dirty look from them. It seems they're deployed to guard the shuttered parking lots and facilities, not concerned with people visiting the area on foot or on bikes.

I'm sure he just thought he'd be approached and be told to leave worst case scenario.
If they aren't "working", then why are they standing around handing out tickets.
I am pretty sure they are getting paid to do that, so having the parks closed is a huge crapola of hypocrisy. It would be better to send the bureaucrats home, and leave the park open.

Trespassing probably. The park WAS closed per the shutdown. I agree though, it is ridiculous. Especially since he said he saw many other runners and bikers there. Sounds like he was singled out. But he may have been the only one to park in that area.
Of course they would, how else would he know that the government is "shut down" and anarchy is ruling the land.
Battle ROad in Lexington, MA (almost 10 miles of loose trails) is closed. I had a workout there and was asked to leave by the park ranger (how is he working?)
Because the parks are not being maintained or fully patrolled, and emergency services are very limited, the park service is running skeleton crews to keep people out of the parks. It’s a safety issue. I've been in both Minnesota and California during park closures due to budget fights and both states did the same thing.
