Consensus on Nike Pro Combat Shorts

P.S. The reason i'm asking is because I see many kids in high profile races using them to race in, and they are not school issued.

They're meant to be an undergarment, so that's why they look like underwear. However, I don't really think there's anything "unappropriate" about them except that they look like underwear. There's nothing "indecent" about them.

What I mean by inappropriate is whether to the outsider of the running community whether people would think they look like underwear, or whether they look like any other compression shorts. I thought they should be used as an under garment as well, but I increasingly see people wearing these for training and racing.

Look, it depends on the runner. If you have a fit athlete, it can be worn as a stand-alone. If you are out of shape, you may want to layer with a short. I see tons of guys and girls running in the Under Armour compression shorts out here. Same deal.

Nothing inappropriate about wearing as a stand-alone. Why don't you buy a pair and try them out? Better yet, check out Flotrack's new video with Texas Tech and you can see the guys that opt to wear the Under Armour compression shorts without anything on top and make a call if appropriate or not.

Correct. It used to be you could easily find either cotton or nylon semi-tights / half-tights at a brick and mortar sporting goods store. Now...good luck.

These combat shorts look like undergarments. Kids are probably wearing them cos they can't find the real deal.

Thanks A Duck, that has been part of the struggle, even specialized running stores do not carry them anymore, and if you order them online, you can't be sure of what size to get or whether you'll like them or not.
