Yes; this page appears to repeat the usual misinterpretation of the term.
This year also as a junior I peaked in the early XC season at 60 mpw. That was with 1 day of rest, so I had a 13 or 14 mile long run and 5 days of doubles. It seemed to work good for me, the shortest run I'd go on was 3 miles but I usually tried to keep them all at 4 or more miles. As I decreased my mpw through the season I just did doubles less often. Right now, nearing the end of my season at around 42 mpw, I run one double per week. If I didn't have a race every week it'd just be singles on this low of mileage, but with a 1 race, 1 short day before the race, and 1 day completely off each week I find it easier to do a double on one day. I'm no expert by any means but that seemed to work for me.
