Seems she has run 2:18 for the marathon, yet never broken 31:30 for 10K. How many men have this sort of profile? Is this a woman thing or, God forbid, an EPO thing?

She ran a 31:02 in the Avon National Championship a week after her WR in Chicago, beating Elena Myer in the process, not too shabby!
Well, today in Maine she ran like ass. However there were four US born Americans in the top 13 - Lane, Hauser, Graff, Luchini - along with two imported Americans, Abdi and Hellebuyck. Good show!
What was her 10k time today? did kiplagat run?
Not the Kiplagat you're probably think of. The top three women:
28 1/291 F3034 31:56 5:09 31:56# ADRIANA FERNANDEZ 31 F 55 MEXICO
30 1/325 F3539 31:58 5:09 31:58# ESTHER KIPLAGAT 35 F 57 ELDORET KENYA
32 2/291 F3034 32:07 5:11 32:07# CATHERINE NDEREBA 30 F 50 ROYERSFORD PA KENYA

Hmmmmm. Where does that put them among the invited athletes who aren't masters??
Just curious.

I agree. The Americans beat 1 invited runner who wasn't a master, John Kagwe, who is way past his prime.
It may sound good to have 4 americans in the top 10, but when only 6 african runners are invited to the race that is terrible. It is a little known secret, if you want Americans to do well, just have limited hotel rooms for the Kenyans. Or you can take things one more step and have international team races like Boulder-Boulder, but don't make the foreign teams very strong.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
