Recruiting. Give east coast athletes a chance to see them.
This. And also to compete.

Where are the Powell's from? Boston.
Yup. Both from Boston area.
The Powells are actually being inducted into the MSTCA (Mass State Track Coaches Association) HOF at the meet
Because hiding in your backyard and competing against patsies (ala SEC football) is lame.
If were going to call it a "competition" it should, at very least, be competitive.
because Randy Thomas, coach of BC, and Vin Lanananaa are friends.
Because some teams actually like to compete and this gives the Ducks a nice warm up meet for Dellinger and Wisco.

Anyone consider that they're running at Franklin Park so that Jenkins can face his former team (possibly to rub it in Northeastern's face). Sure, the meet was probably on the schedule before he transferred, but who knows what people knew already at that point.
This would be pretty cynical, but hey stuff like this happens
Franklin Park is the BEST xc course on the planet? Oh pleeeeze . . . . I'd heard that, and assumed it was true, until I actually raced there. It's an urban park; much of the race is on dirt or paved roads. It is not what I would call a true cross country course. Yes it starts on a big grass field, but that's about the best thing you can say about it. I've run on golf courses (Spokane, Wash. for Club Nationals) that I thought were more of a true cross country race, and I'm not a big fan of golf course running.

Philadelphia's Belmont Plateau is the greatest XC course in the world. Sure, a lot of rocks and poor footing at parts, but very intense woods section. Separates the boys from the men for sure.

Excepte you did not run on a golf course for Club Nationals in Spokane.
Paved roads?? I ran there dozens of times in high school and remember crossing some, but not anywhere close to "much of the race". Have they changed it?
Not claiming it to be the best, but it has a nice variety of surfaces (grass, dirt, gravel) and Bear Cage (the hill) can be played tactically - making it fun to race and watch. Some might contend that it's too flat (read: easy) to be considered an ideal XC course. I can't really argue against that line of thinking.
It's also very spectator friendly, without being a boring open field like Terre Haute. It's fun to see how things shift as the runners come out of the woods and off the hill multiple times throughout the race. Plus the final "lap" on the field is in plain view, so you can see some cool individual battles. Wish I could make it out there this afternoon.
Are you crazy? Belmonte plateau is NOTHING compared to the states course (poop-out -hill course at Hershey). By far the best course in the nation.
Not sure why Oregon is running this meet either. I mean look at how won't be thier at this meet 4 of Oregon top 7 Women Woodward,LeBlanc and the 2 transfers Crevoiserat and Zrinyi and 3 of the top 7 Men in Pepiot Jenkins and Fleet. WHY OREGON WHY IF YOU ARE GOING TO RUN THE MEET WHY NOT TRY TO WIN IT????????????????? OH WELL
I've been to Franklin Park for the old NCAA D1 Dist. 1 and 2 IC4A/ECAC combined which were great races on a good course. It also hosted World XC. I think Hershey is tougher than Belmont Plateau. I like Coopers Lake near Slippery Rock U of PA which has hosted NCAA D2 Champs and other championship meets. Heard they finally widened the bridge into the grounds there.
Muir and Reekie have falling out with Andy Young, get on first plane home from South Africa
Kipchoge has been doing 40k mostly uphill training runs @ 8200 ft: yeah, he’s ready for Boston
Rejected or waitlisted everywhere I wanted to attend due to my race
