There wasn't anybody named that in MK?? Bone up on your movies lady.
red shoe in Schindler's List
According to Bill Murray in Stripes, it's gotta be Old Yeller.
The final scene in Easy Rider.
"All those moments will be lost...like tears in rain". Bladerunner, as Rutger Hauer dies.
The last scene of "The Days Of Wine And Roses."
A black and white movie filmed in San Francisco about a couple of alcoholics.
Jack Lemmon is looking out the second story window of a sleazy hotel room (a neon sign of a glass flickering nearby)watching his wife, Lee Remick, walking away down a wet, dark street. She's off looking for a man, any man, to drink with.
Also, the last scene of "Splendor In The Grass." Warren Beatty and Natalie Wood.
When Gale Sayers visits Brian Piccolo in the hospital.
Final scene in Midnight Cowboy is pretty grim.
Saddest for me is probably the final scene in Gallipoli, where Mark Lee is reviewing his coach's sprinting instructions before running into certain death while Mel Gibson is trying [and failing] to make it back in time to save him.
Any scene involving Keanu Reeves, sad acting.
One that probably isn't that well known, but always gets me, is when Beth finds Grace hanging from a tree in Once Were Warriors.
Easily in Castaway when Tom Hanks throws the jeep in reverse and backs up to his wife's driveway where they kiss in the rain one final time. god that makes me tear up

I would agree. That's perhaps the most emotionally moving film I've ever seen. Very dark, but god it was good. Tremendous acting from both Lemmon and Remick. Those final scenes of Remick were brutally sad.
Ending of "Into the Wild" where he crawls under the blanket & looks up the sky & reflects on is life.

Why, pray tell, would a red shoe be sad?
Actually the scene where wilson floats away breaks my heart a little...
when han solo is frozen - Chewie's plaintive wail gets me every time
brian's song too of course
Meryl Streep telling the camera about the option she was given in Sophie's Choice.
I can't watch the brilliant Schindler's List anymore because it is so tragic.
Nice call on the Days of Wine and Roses.
