Insider sources at Nike have confirmed that Shannon will be joining Alberto and the Nike Oregon project after the end of this season. Looks to be a big move for Shannon!!

If this is true--*big* if--it would make a measure of sense. Shannon used to train with Moser, and Moser's success under Salazar may have struck a convincing note with her. Moreover, it's not entirely clear to me what Shannon's coaching situation is right now; I know she's been affiliated with Cook, but that association has seems to me to be rather loose (same goes for Ponsonby). Salazar may therefore have the benefit of offering better attention and structure.
If this were true--again, a *big* if--it would in many ways be a fantastic move for Shannon, whose particular mix of strengths as a 1500/5k runner would work quite well with Salazar's athletes and training philosophies.
I'm a big Rowbury fan. She's been a consistent, stand-up athlete for years now. Whether this is true or not, best of luck to her.
John Cook has retired from coaching. Thus all members of his group (Torrence, Solares, Wallace and Rowbury) have to join another nike affiliated group. Shannon is the only one who has confirmed which group she will be joining! Great fit for her!
Torrence then to where?
Source?

Best wishes to John Cook in retirement.
This is a good move for Rowbury to join Salazar.
She's washed up. They're bringing her in to be a training partner for Cain.
God No!!! I actually like Shannon Rowbury, I hate NOP and all their "thyroid meds and tues are not quite cheating" attitude
Has she developed a case of hypothyroidism yet? Hate to see her go over to the dark side.

She's probably had it for years, but thank goodness she is finally going to be able to get it diagnosed and treated!

why do they have to join another nike group? Can't they just train on their own (if they so wished to)?
Darn. And I always thought of Rowbury as a woman of integrity.
Actually, maybe this can turn into a positive.
Shannon, please don't be like everyone else that has recently joined the group. If Alberto tests you with a few ambiguous comments, go along with it so he doesn't pull the 'A' program away from you as he has his doubts about you. Act like you want to dope. Hell even dope. Don't act nervous. Then spill the beans to a major news outlet. Think of your legacy.
The system wide countries no longer get away with doping. The last remaining untouchable is the NOP.
Everyone else either goes along with it as they want to be good or because they think it will lead to another 4-year contract. Please be different.
this is why I come to letsrun....fan of Shannon....I hope she can finally break 2,4,and 15
+1 Sad day if true.

Does everyone know that Cook and Salazar are real close and that they share many beliefs? The reason that Shalane left Cook was because of those shared beliefs. You may have your own image of Shannon, but she has always been with a Salazar minded coach.
I thought she had integrity. I guess not.
The Natalie Portman of Track
Rowbury is already on the plan. As mentioned above, the coaches are friends and share secrets

how is it logical that even though no A-list American distance runner has tested positive for many, many years...you can take this smarmy attitude toward the NOP?
really, it is a little weird.

Cook was her coach but her "group" was the non-affiliated BATC. She needed a coach, not a group. The best non-affiliated coach she could have found while staying with BATC is probably Richie Boulet. With all due respect to Richie, he and BATC simply can't compete with Salazar and NOP. I agree, though, it's a great move for her.
