I'm flying into Chicago Friday morning and renting a car for a Saturday wedding in Northern Wisconsin, and since I enjoy road-tripping I thought it'd be nice to go some random place before driving up Saturday morning. I could basically go as far East as Pittsburgh or Toronto, and could even go a little farther than that West, like Topeka or Fargo. Any takers?
Don't tell me how fast you are, I won't tell you how fast I am. You choose the route--something between 2 miles and a half marathon, let's say. I'm fine with hills, trails, fields, the track, roads, whatever. Just make the route easy to follow and limit road crossings, I guess.
I would have said loser owes the winner a 6-pack of local beer, but I'm not gonna check a bag so I can't bring beer with me. Any other ideas? Not cash, but certainly SOMETHING.
Does anyone within an 8-hour drive of Chicago want to race me on Friday, September 20th?

Bring it. See you at 4:00 p.m. at E 10th St & N Edmondson Ave
Warren Park, IN (just outside of Indianapolis). Prepare to lose. Race will be 6000 meters long. -
You're willing to drive from Chicago all the way out to Toronto (8-10 hours?), and back, and then all the way up to Northern Wisconsin (like 24 hours driving total), but you still flew into Chicago? Wow... I assume you're flying from really far away?
-
wow, this is exciting. I'll have to assume your both really fast.
Is it a road course, hilly, any info?
Someone else close by should go, do a little phone video and confirm it actually goes down. -
Anyone have the link to the live stream?
-
Sounds great, can you make me a course map? And do you have any ideas as to what the stakes should be?

Anyone else from around the area that wants to watch/video/report/substantiate?
I'm flying from the West coast...and like I said I enjoy driving, and wanted to do a lot of it on my weekend out of town.

I should bump this. You still around, luthercampbell? Is this really going to happen?
I thought of a good wager: loser gives the winner his racing singlet. -
If this was close to indiana I will video tape
-
Im down to race if you come to Toronto.
-
I hope this happens.

not the sharpest, are you? -
Letsrace.com seemingly meant local for each racer; therefore, yes, he would have had to check a bag.

Effing letsrun tard.

Not there, luthercampbell? I'd like at least a confirmation that you exist...
Otherwise if BeefMac is still around I'll go there. If neither respond soon I'll go somewhere else.
I'll set up an Email address so I can be in contact a bit more easily with whomever is actually going to race me. -
It appears that your challengers have disappeared. I will race you over 1000m at the IMSA track (open to the public). Aurora is within an hour of Chicago, so you won't have to drive far.
My only warning is that I'm not very fast, so I don't suspect it will be a particularly challenging race for you.
I will bookmark this thread to keep the race alive in case the other challengers do not return. -
Oops. Just reread the rules. We'll still meet at the IMSA track, but the race will be 2 miles on a couple loops of the campus (grass and sidewalk). I don't own a singlet, so I hope a cotton shirt works for the wager. Let me know if you're in and I'll post a picture of me at the track holding a sign with my handle so you know I'm legit. Or maybe one of the first two challengers will reappear. I just want this to happen.

Plot Twist: OP is Galen Rupp who is visiting Chicago on tour.
