In middle school I played 2 years of football, but in HS shifted my interest solely to basketball. WHen I was a frosh, I ran 1 season of track (very unseriously) and had an electronic, officially-timed PR of 12.03 out of starting blocks. I could grab the rim with my whole hand at 5'7" as well. After thousands of hours of basketball, I got slower and slower, and graduation came. For the past 3 years I have ran distance (Avg. ~50-70 mpw) and have really developed a passion for it. The main downside is that my pure speed has gotten slower yet, and I now at age 20 probably couldn't break 15 for 100m.
I am not on a college team, just a hobby jogger who wins a few races here and there on the local scene. Even so, I really would like to be able to improve, and don't think I can until I get the wheels turning again.
Iwould really like to be able to get SOME of my speed and power back without giving up distance running. Advice? Please...
