It was deleted?
Anyway, I hope this one stays.
Unless they go out at low 2:02 pace or faster I see Kipsang winning.
Interesting to note he will be bringing a team-mate to help pace him. Maybe we will see another Paul tergat/Sammy Korir finish.

Umm, there's no such thing as putting "money in the bank" for a marathon, dude. Unless you're talking about going out for like 25-30k or something. But not to the 5k or 10k haha.
Based on how everyone reacted in London after a 61:34 first half, I don't think we're gonna be seeing 2:02
I'm calling a 2:05.

I didn't express myself well.
What I meant is that if they go out very fast, like 2:02 pace, Kipsang will probably blow up because of his aggressive style of racing.
If they go for 2:03/2:04 I can see him winning.

Makes zero sense to "call" something now. The weather forecast hasn't even come out yet.

...always given perfect conditions, therefore I call 2:04 right now
wasn't it pretty warm in London? It can also be warm in Berlin in late September. If the conditions are ideal, I see
a 61 1/2 first half and a 60 1/2 2nd half for a 2:02 and change.

To be perfectly honest I'd be surprised if either of them break 2:10. These guys are yesterday's news.
By that you could be referring to Makau. Kipsang on the other hand is here to stay, maybe another two or three years. Except for Olympics last year and London marathon this year, he has had a stellar career the last four years. If the weather is good, I see a 2:03 win for him. He will have company though in the likes of Eliud Kipchoge and Geoffrey Kipsang (who might figure out the distance this year).

I have no idea what's up with Makau, but Kipsang seems to have a very real shot at mid-2:03. That said, sub-2:03 just isn't happening.

That makes no sense. Ryan Hall is a 2:04 marathoner. You seriously think this race is going to be a minute slower than his best?!

An interesting opinion I heard from my Kenyan friend of mine. He thinks that if Kipsang goes for the WR Makau will not go with it. Reasoning behind that is that Kipsang will need company in the final 5-10k to break the WR, so by Makau challenging Kipsang (at WR pace) his record will have a much greater chance of falling AND he could still get second/lose the record. Maybe it would be better for Makau to settle for second, but increase his odds of keeping the WR.
If he's interested in preventing the record from getting broken, he'd be more likely to make the pace uneven, much like Dibaba v Defar a number of years back when Defar was going for a 5k record. That said, I don't think Makau will do that. After London this year, it seems like he isn't able to hang for long at WR pace anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Does Ryan Hall call himself a 2:04 marathoner?

Actually, he rarely calls himself at all.
I totally agree with your observation of Makau. He has alot to prove to become a top dog again. My earlier thought when he was entered in this race was that he was in to cause distraction, like say race the first half at 2:02 pace(sub 1:01:30) then drop out after Kipsang and others are roasted. I see him getting to the front and start mislead pacemakers to shift their gear. He then might drop out even before 15km. I hope the pace makers will not fall for his tricks but follow an already planned pace. Otherwise we could be in for a disaster of some sort in Berlin with the race being won in 2:09 or slower by a nameless.
