Certain parts of the song even compare being gay to being black. I don't know. To be honest I'm pretty disgusted when two men kiss or whatever. It's a nice song though.
Your thoughts?

Not very good.
I love it. A moving and thoughtful song.
I also love that he calls out rap culture for its homophobic language.
Let them have something
It's an okay song, but its message is better than its beat
It's probably one of his weakest songs (like Thrift Shop and Can't Hold Us)
If you wann see some real good stuff listen to Otherside:

and Wings:
don't like it
Like it.
I only clicked on this thread because I thought it said "Same Girl." Now THAT'S a jam. Kels and Usher are much better than this Macklemore bullshi\t.

What is homophobic language?
Stupid! It's an in your face song with a political agenda. Imagine that! Anyway, it isn't very clever. It isn't very musical. It's a stupid song.
Lame.
Preachy, cheesy song that sounds like church. Horrible lyricism, bars that don't rhyme, plain statements without any attempt at cleverness or artistry. In summary, it's one of the gayest songs I've ever heard.
It sucks donkey, which is not an insult to those who like it.
A crappy song full of lies and blatant attempt to build up a vile lifestyle and claim tolerance while lying about another group and hating them. Once again, typical liberal hypocrisy.

Maybe language that has a fear of being gay?

Was this the first rap song you ever heard or something?

LOL haha. never thought about it this way, but good points.
It is very bad to hate gays. But it is very good to hate those who hate gays.
This song is not all that "groundbreaking". Now 10-12+ years ago it would have been tremendously groundbreaking. The overall acceptance of gays is so much greater now than it has ever been before. I don't give this song all that much credit, because the climate of hate towards gays is not at all what it once was. Unless of course, you need to play the victim-card for your own self-sympathy.
Yes racism and all forms of prejudice still exist. But being gay or black in the 2010's is nothing like being black in the 1960's or being gay in the 1980's. We are not perfect, but it is significantly better.
In other words, at > 5 mins long, your attention span can't hang with it?
I prefer Poi Dog Pondering's "Sandra at the Beach" for my pro-gay tune. Plus, it is lesbo oriented, so it's hot.
This version has shitty sound. But Pomegranate by Poi Dog is a great album and this is one of the tunes.
No, it just sucks. it acts like only one side is "tolerant" while slandering another side. I can disagree with you but not hate you. Liberals on the other hand, hate me because i don't agree.
