I've noticed that Noguchi likes to customize her number bibs so as to maximize the air flow. If you look at her bibs(2004 Olympic, 2003 Wrld Chmps, Osaka Ladies, Miyazaki 1/3, etc) It appears as though she likes to cut numerous little squares in them. I do the same to my cycling numbers, it does help!
I think did that at the 84 LA Olympic marathon. He also cut up his shirt so much it looked a rag.
This is because she practices origami before every race as a means of relaxation. If you look closely at the video, there was a small origami crane on her shoulder at the beginning of the race. It fell off.
