3:42 on a Tuesday afternoon
One per month for me but 2 per month would be optimal.

This is the kind of stuff I want to know. And also like, if it'd be better to get it during heavy training, or during a week back, etc.
the evening before a rest or easy active rest day.

That's what my massage person tells me.
That's in line with what I've heard. What are the reasons for that?
Would it help or hurt to get one a few days before a race, if all other days between the massage and the race are very easy?
I think it depends on what you can afford and when. I get mine a day or two after a hard workout or severals days after a hard race. Not before a race or before a hard workout. Does that make sense?
I have a stable job so I can afford massages right now, although I try to budget my money well so I don't want to go too crazy with them. How soon before a race would be too soon?
This might sound silly but it depends on how you recover from a massage. Do you feel depleted for days when you get one? meaning is your massage intense/moderate or relaxing? If intense then I would give a few days prior to a race. For example, if I have a race on Sunday then I would get a massage on Thus the prior. Since I am probably much older than you, you might get away with it sooner. I would just test it during your training week/month versus a race week. Drink plenty fluids as well. Just my humble opinion.
I would say at dusk.
Hey xenonscreams, are you still doing some boxing sessions for core work?
And if so, are you still liking them? I remember early on that you thought boxing sessions were pretty good core workouts. If you kept doing them, was that feeling confirmed?
I just did one. It was an amazing workout, but I think too much stress to add at once, plus I'd have to keep paying for the gym. I'm getting personal training (from an elite runner) starting this XC season so I'm hoping that will help me put together a very good core routine, in addition to many other things.
thanks.
