Being that she was a college stud, her NCAA racing was predictable. She is also good enough to turn pro and chase the wc dream. Her season for all intensive purposes, was over in Moscow. She stayed in Europe to get a little more experience. Money doesn't hurt either. Now she will race sparingly for the rest of her career.

It must be a great experience to compete in stadiums full with fans that treat them like rock-stars. Traveling around Europe and competing every so often gives them alot of down time to enjoy the sights?

Why not? Its been a very long year of competing and she may as well as finish out the Diamond League circuit on company time.

Then its back to the U.S. for some needed rest and then get down to the business of making a success of her pro career.

To get a taste of DL competition in Europe so that she knows what to expect when she comes back next season rested and hopefully closer to the level of the other competition.

It's the same reason I think the US is smart to take every athlete it can to the Olympics and other international competitions, unlike Canada, GB, etc. It gives the athletes a chance to grasp the level of performance required, get over butterflies, and be ready to perform at a higher level when they get back again.

I don't know about this idea of "gaining experience". You mean, like, so she'll know where the bathrooms are next time she's at Stockholm's track meet? This chick has run millions of races all over the world already. Showing up just to get crushed won't help her marketability. And running that many races in a relatively short period can't be good for her long-term. I thought Salazar was all about long-term planning, the 10-year plan, etc?

Marketability isn't at issue here. Among American T&F fans she's a "name" and will continue to be one whether she races the rest of the year or not. Among everyone else, she's "Jordan who?".

The obvious way to increase her marketability is to have her move up to the marathon. Seems likely that she'll be capable of breaking 2:30, and that will be good enough to make her somewhat more widely known / marketable.

What do you mean? A 2:30 marathon won't make her more widely known or marketable.

US Nationals

Time trial in OR to get the standard

And if her race at Worlds was just a tempo effort, why did she bother to qualify and run?

Hmm tell me what matters more - the name of the race or the time run in the race? Are you suggesting that 13:30 was a huge, taxing effort for the men's 5000 at worlds? Why did those guys bother to qualify and run?
