My dog was on a leash and someone kicked him.
What are my rights when it comes to this.
I called my local animal care control office and wasn't able to talk to anybody.
Short story of what just happened.
I'm walking my dog through the condominiums/apartments that I live in. I have both my dogs on a leash and walk past somebody's door. Their young boy(about 5 years old) is playing outside on the ground side walk. My dogs which are about 10 and 20 pounds begin to bark as they become overly excited. Meanwhile I'm still walking away past the boy and their house. They hear my dogs barking and the grandfather comes out to tell me to train my dogs.
All is fine up to this point.
I agree with him.
He then KICKS my dog square in the face because my dog kept jumping at him, when he got closer and I had my dog on a shorter and shorter leash.
I SNAPPED, I pulled the leash on both my dogs so they couldn't walk around.I walked up close to him and started to tell him off about NEVER kicking my dog again.
Then his niece comes out to tell me off, and starts cursing at me and threatening me by calling her brother to come out and face me. She then threatens me with calling security, because I tell her to call him out. I tell her that if anyone kicks my dogs again I am calling the police. I then decided to just walk away because it wasn't worth it. I am so livid right now.
Has anyone had this personal experience? I obviously will avoid that house, but what are my rights/options when someone kicks my dogs? I'd like to know how to properly handle this if it ever happens again. Thanks.
