I know 9.77 and 9.63 seem a ways apart but in reality they arne't. Plus I assume the rain slows you down some as well.

It's a good point... from his peak of like mid 9.6s he's now at mid 9.7s.. in a few years he may slow to mid 9.8s at peak shape and I predict he will retire after London 2017 WCs if he gets beaten there or at Rio, if he wins then to go out on top.
was this the slowest final since ???
Gatlin was also the closest anyone has ever been to Bolt in a Championship Final.
I wonder whether using the same wind conversions for everyone, a 6'5" guy vs. a 5'7" guy, a strong guy vs. a fast guy with no resistance, really works. I know that some runners are more affected by wind mentally and physically and that the wind resistance profile's different for Bolt than for, say, Collins.
that .05 is a big difference in a 100 especially since Gatlin was pushing him all the way, very unlike London. London's track was also slightly faster.
A very very impressive performance from Gatlin at his age given the conditions.
Bolts top end is there, but his drive and start have suffered due to his obvious loss of bulk which he had in London. He probably thought he could take it easy since Gay, Blake, and Powell were gone and even if Gatlin made it a race it wouldn't matter.
He can basically breeze through the rest of this champs, this season and next years and 2015's circuit. He doesn't have to work hard for almost 2 years.

This is correct. The only reason it doesn't look like much of a difference is because of how unrealistically Bolt dropped the 100m WR. This seem like more ROJO arguing that Bolt wasn't doping, when in fact, it shows just how out of whack that 9.63 (or 9.70) was. And the 9.63 isn't even Bolt's best time!
