I actually didn't realize he was in the lead pack until that moment he took over so it was even better!

Made him look tired and stressed out. Desperate.
Great runner though and I wish him the best.
I liked that he was part of the race (until the last 2 laps or so).
He was in there. The US had two guys mixing it up until the end- that's a decent showing.
The smile he gave was great - almost like he snuck in to lead without anyone else knowing, and that he didn't expect to be there. Maybe ticking it off? Leading a wc race with a few laps to go? Looked tactical with mo and Galen to help push the pace on a lil.
Got serious wood, but he dropped back before I could ruin the my keyboard and computer screen.
The only American ever to lead a World 10000 at 9000 meters. But what he needed to do something special was good weather--the dew point was 61, poor conditions--and a steady pace going through 5000 in the 13:30s. He doesn't have the strength, especially in those weather conditions, to take it out like that himself. But he gave himself a chance. Let's see what happens in Chicago.
This is why I love Ritz so much, unless Rupp pulls out some impressive medals, he still doesn't have the guts to push a race out like Ritz. I guess part of it is because Ritz knows he's essentially out of the game so he might as well go for it, but still. Ritz also gives great interviews too, all smiles and optimism
I think I remember seeing him do something similar within the past year and a half but I forget where. I think he knows he won't be kicking with anyone the last 400 so he pushes it a few laps earlier to test the waters. The only chance he has is from a 1000ms out. Ideally his surge would drop a few guys, but today not such a day. Good effort though.
Cannot find video anywhere. Just got off work. Anyone?
Where did he end up finishing? I had a twinge of excitement. Ritz runs with guts.
My excitement reached the same level it did when Glenn Randall (GR)took the lead at the Boston Marathon a couple years ago.

10,000m on NBC right now.
If he was in the lead, how come he didn't stay there? Why did he let the other runners pass him?

I guess you have to watch these joggers if you want to see Bolt, Gatlin and the real athletes. Putting this on right after the womens 400 first round just emphasizes how freaking slow these guys(gays) are.
Do you have some sort of fascination with gays? You constantly bring them up and put them down.
It was an idiot move. He helped box in his own training partners. Guys that actually had a shot at the podium.
I'm expecting something special out of him in Chicago.
Ritz lead for about 150 yards then faded to ninth within another 80 yards. Think about that for a second. Ritz faded like old pictograph in desert sun.
anyone who can make it to the final stages of a world champs in a 10k in the heat is no puzzy to say the least.
ritz probably knew he was in need of energy maybe get a boost in energy from taking the lead.
you know that if ritz was able to run a 57 after leading he would have gotten close to a medal.
DIATRIBE FOR RABID "FANS'
normally i don't pay attention to negative j-ackass posters, it is a phenomena i don't quite understand. is it jealousy? smallpenit, father beat them in the head from birth? bad genetics, rabies? so many potential causes, rage because they can't get it up, no girlfriend, they have no friends? probably much of that applies to these misguided souls.
but god bless wojo for allowing bozo to have his say. let's run is the last of the mohawkians.

This. Exactly.
The move did not seem to accomplish much. He might have squeezed out a top 6 if he'd stayed steady in the pack. At the end of the race 6th is better than 10th.
I don't think he had very many options, the pace was slowing with 4 to go, setting up for a blitz in the last lap. He has no kick so might as well see if pushing the pace would drop those who might be hanging on for dear life. None of them were phased and he finished 10th. He probably would have finished the same no matter what, because all in that pack seemed to have better closing speed (i haven't seen everyone's splits though).
