Does anyone have the stats on the 106? How many for Bolt? For Blake" Weir? Powell?

Everyone, even on this board said it was basically wild in 07 and 08 in Jamaica, but obviously its still so bad that its hard to take seriously.

Jamaica is like an American inner city that has become an entire country.

Can USADA, RUSADA, NADA, UKADA, etc. have JADCO disclose the exact test numbers and dates for Bolt over 2012 and earlier. I'm still at a loss as to how something like this happened. Is there simply no oversight?

I agree that the 106 total tests for Jamaica is pathetic, but there are a few other factors to consider. I tried to check out the link to the WADA document but it is too big to take in really quickly.

One thing I noticed is that as far as I can tell, these numbers are for all sports covered under WADA, not just track and field. So since Jamaica (according to my inexpert observations) doesn't participate in as many sports overall as some as the bigger, richer countries, their numbers would be expected to be lower. It would be helpful if there was some kind of "per active athlete" breakdown by nation. Maybe there is, and I haven't gotten to it yet.

While Jamaica's total # of tests is tiny compared to places like Russia, it is higher than a lot of countries including the following: Slovenia, Bahrain, Israel, Nigeria, Armenia, and Argentina. So if it wasn't for the fact that they have a lot of sprinting gold medalists, Jamaica's test numbers would look ordinary.

I also noticed that the number of tests conducted by USADA seems to be rather low. On the surface, it may sound like our total of 4000+ absolutely dwarfs Jamaica's 106, but you have to remember that that doesn't mean 4000 tests on US sprinters vs 106 tests on Jamaica's sprinters. That's 4000 tests on this whole group of athletes (mostly in Olympic sports) vs 106. I'll have to look a bit more at this document to see if I can get a better impression of how the tests are distributed among sports, etc.

Also worth noting that the 4051 total tests by the US is below the figures of some much small nations:

"The Russians: 15,854. The Chinese: 10,066. German: 8,077. Italian: 6,794. British: 5,971. Australian: 5,186. Japanese: 4,956. Indian: 4,051."

I mean, Australia? Come on! They may match the US for sports obsessiveness, but they have a population roughly 7% as large as the US (less than 23 million per Wikipedia). And yet they had about 25% more total tests performed. That means that, assuming each of the two countries has a roughly equal number of athletes per capita, Australian athletes are something like 15 to 20 times more likely to get tested. So I think US writers should be a little bit cautious before they start to point fingers with a sense of superiority.
