Do guys often get better quality wives (looks-wise) if they wait until closer to age 40 to marry?

Often, yes. But this is a case of correlation, not causation. Many of the guys who wait this long do so because they are busy building a high-status career. It is not the fact that they are older, pe se, but rather that they threw their line into the sea as an established high-power professional rather than as a 23-year old dude living in a studio apartment with a roommate and paying off his loans.
Based on my sample of 1 I'd say that you get a better quality wife in ALL regards if you wait until you're closer to 40 - as long as you stay in good shape.
I got divorced when I was 44 and until I met my 2nd wife (I traded up) I was like a kid in a candy store. By the time you're in your 30s most of your competition will be fat guys. Women don't like fat slobs any more than men do, so a runner definitely has an advantage in the dating market.

Yes...women care about men's looks (eyeroll).

I think the older guy, younger "trophy" wife thing is an anomoly and when seen in real life is often a farce.
Oh, you mean they need to look like high priced prostitutes to qualify as good looking. In the real world, not your fantasy world, by the time someone is 40 and still looking, they have a little deeper understanding of what beauty means and 9.5 times out of 10 it doesn't look like your Trump-hooker pic.

You are what is known as a "sucker." And apparently you don't hang out with very many successful people.

I have found this to be correct as well. The guys I've known who waited until 35+, are in shape, and had stable careers - they seriously had their pick of the litter of seriously attractive girls, ranging from college age and up. These were not bimbos either, but quality good looking girls who just wanted a guy with his sh*t together, not a 25 year old in a studio apartment who can't see past this weekend's bar crawl.
I didn't get married until I was 42. My wife was 27 at the time. She is, by many accounts, "hot". She is also very cool. I think this is a function of the age difference - women who consider you a peer treat you differently than those who think of you as "older", "wiser", "more experienced", etc. I am very glad I waited.
From what I have observed, men who marry later and marry a person younger generally get the pick of the litter in terms of looks. People who say these guys are losers do not know what they are talking about.
Yes, amd here's why:

I think that most women under 30 would prefer to marry a guy who is a lot younger than 40. When you are 40, you might not be at your best looking yourself. You could be bald and old-looking. By 35 would be good. You need time just in case your marriage doesn't work out. Do you really want to be almost 40 and still single?

Perhaps the most naive thing I've ever read on Letsrun. And that's saying something.

By "older", "wiser", and "more experienced", I think you mean "controlling", "manipulative", and "father figure". This kind of man is too insecure to have an equal partner. He has to be able to display his "superiority". Might work for a while, but the young woman eventually grows up and realizes she is married to a controlling jerk.
Hah, controlling, manipulative jerk? That's what you got from what that guy wrote? I can taste the bitterness from here.
I say no to the OP. I think those that marry in their late 20s get the best options. At that stage in life you are established(hopefully) in your career as are your possible mates. You also weed out many of the girls that were hot in high school or college that got fat/ugly after school. I think you wait until your 40 and the best are already taken.

I guess if you consider being a nurse or an accountant to be a career, then you are established in your late 20s. Not for the "real" careers though.
I think it's probably true in most cases. You'll be richer, established, more responsible and so you'll be able to snag a better girl who's, say, 28 than you could have when you were 28.
The exception is at the very top of the food chain. The very best girls aren't marrying way older guys. I know a guy who comes from a rich family, went to an Ivy, good looking guy, real successful, etc. (i.e. He had his pick of women) He snagged a girl in college who was an all-american runner, great looking, brilliant, and is going to be a schoolteacher so she can have enough time to raise his kids. That girl is off the market and not coming back on, and she probably wasn't ever interested in 40 year old dudes to begin with.
So if you wait until 40 you might do better, but I think your ceiling will be lower.
Well, according to Potato you are a sucker and a loser. Apparently he still sneaks his dad's porn mags into the bathroom and gets his reality from there.
I think a lot of guys who wait until they are 40 are the guys who have gotten hot chick for a while and didn't want to settle down because they didn't want to give up banging hot chicks. Its not guys who got mediocre girls when they were 30 and all of a sudden starting pull hotter women because they were older, more established blah blah.
If you don't get many good looking women you are going to want to settle down with the first one you find.

Ironic that the person with the Disney romcom view of the world is calling the person with the more cynical (and correct) view childish.
