Yeah, maybe. Those Napoleon complexes do silly shit.
But he just probably doesn't know how to measure an accurate four miles.
Probably "ran" some 20 minute miles. Believe him.
You realize that even that pace would be impossible with that much weight, right?

I used to weigh 80 pounds heavier than I do and could run 4 miles then, so yes, I believe he could do it. Whether he really did it or not doesn't matter. All that matters is whether or not he told the story well and you were entertained. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
Actually it would be fairly easy on flat terrain. 20 minute miles is only 3 miles an hour.

Okay, so let's run with this for a moment. (Awesome pun, eh? Double pun, really.) If you put on weight vests to bring you up to your maximum previous weight, would you really be able to jog at the same pace that you once did when you weighed that much? I say No. You've adapted to your lower weight and suddenly adding an additional 80 pounds would make it impossible.

Did you ask him Why?
go put an 80 lb backpack (or 50% of your weight, as in this case) on your skinny @$$, and lets see if you can do 3 miles per hour. you're completely talking out of your backside, dude.
Weigh about 160, can probably do a marathon right now in about 3 hours flat. Carry a 65-70lb rucksack every Thursday morning for road marches. Walking distance 4-8 miles. Pretty easy to do.
No chance in Hell I could "run" 4 miles with that much weight.
Weighed 180 and road marched about the same distances as you. Ruck maybe 60lbs. No way I could run 4 miles with 80lb ruck. Perhaps some of the Rangers could though.
It is possible to backpack with a heavy pack and still walk quickly. That's why the 20 minute miles are plausible. Might be more of a walking than running motion, or like an old man slow shuffle run.
Is your friend's name Hobie Call?
