thinking of running a half marathon two weeks before a full marathon. trying to run sub 2:30 at twin cities and wanted to race a hard half but the only one i can do is two weeks before. is two weeks enough time to recover?

Yes and No. Yes if you run it as marathon pace run. No if you plan to race it all out. Which is probably the case. You probably want to do it to gauge your fitness. But it won't help your marathon time. It can only possibly hurt it. Just be confident enough in your training that you can run 2:30
thanks for the response. i haven't commited to the half yet, but was thinking that with massage and tapering an all out effort wouldn't hurt. this will only be my second marathon so i was thinking of experimenting. most people that i have talked to agreed with what you are saying, just wanted to get a wider perspective.
What about three weeks before a marathon? Is that enough recovery time to race a half and not hurt my marathon time?
3 / 4 weeks out quite a good idea. If 4, then nail it. 3 then perhaps marathon pace tempo. The former has set me up nicely for a couple of 'thons last year. Good luck.
