Just saw an old middle school acquaintance on Facebook. He graduated from some really crummy 4th tier college and is now working in customer service at a Wal Mart. If you can't hack it at at least a middle of the road state school, what's the point?

The same reason us lowlife idiots waste our time on this 6th tier pathetic message board.
They don't believe they are capable, even though most of them can do it.
Basically, they think they are low-tiered people.
Why isn't everyone a doctor, lawyer, or electrical engineer?

I weep for your ignorance
Because they don't know that everybody who works hard can go to HYPS.
Not sure why you are so judgmental. The education in most colleges is not that different. Maybe he is would be working at Wal-Mart (because this is a stretch to think he is actually real) because he likes it. Maybe there are minimal jobs in his major field. Maybe he went to a 4th tier ( and I would like to know what colleges you would consider 4th tier) school because that is what he could afford.
If you want to a top tier school, good for you but it apparently didn't fix a huge character flaw you have.

I know 1st tier college grads working at the same or equivalent jobs.

Right...but if you know you can't even hack it at a mid-tier school, why not take your HS diploma and run?
Because they think liberal arts schools have slutty, liberal girls who will be impressed with someone's status of "track team member."

Dude...your friends who graduated with marketing degrees from Kent State are not first tier college grads.
Name of college isn't that important after you've demonstrated you can hack working in the real world. I hire people all the time with degrees from colleges I've never heard of. If they show a proven record of success after college, I really don't care.
For a new graduate, it would be a little different. Would I hire a new graduate from the University of Phoenix? Probably not. Would I hire one from some tiny liberal arts school I've never heard of? Probably...depending somewhat on the interview and what they did as far as internships or work-study.

I have hometown friends who went to what would be considered a top-25 university, graduated with a 3.0+, and they are basically working dead-end, menial jobs.
