Which would you choose and why.
I'd choose Rhode Island, length-wise, because it's only 48 miles and that seems lovely and it would be a good warm up for the rest of my Saturday because I'm an Ultra Runner.

Who wouldn't pick Rhode Island?
I think Delaware, straight across rather than north to south, might be less
Alaska.

You pretty much have to go North-South or vice versa. There are no roads for the most part in the northern/western locations.

Why? The OP never said it had to be accomplished in one run or in one day. If you have all the support you want why not take your time and spend a couple of weeks?
Sounds pretty good to me. Sections of Northern Calif. would be good, or CO north to south.
