Hi im a sophomore in high school and this will be my first year running cross country. I started running for the first time my freshman year of track and I have PRs of 2:15 and 5:00 for the 1600 and 800. My goal for cross country by the end of the season is 17 flat and I want to start out the season around the 18 minute 5k range and then move down to 17:30ish and eventually be at 17 flat by the end of the season. Do you think I can run that time based on my PRs on the track? What should my splits be for the 17 flat 5k? What should my first mile time be, second mile time and third mile time? Should I be feeling comfortable after the first mile? What should my pace be? What shold my training look like (Tempo run, long run, intervals, etc) and how many miles per week should I run?
