“I want both world titles back, that I won in Berlin in 2009,” Bekele said in a press conference prior to the IAAF World Challenge in Hengelo.
This gives me a good feeling about the shape he's in.

Average Letsrun poster:"I want to marry Miss Universe." Does this give you "a good feeling" about their ability to attract the opposite sex?
True and funny, but I have been following him for many years and don't think he would bs now if he couldnt back it up, would just make him look very silly.
There is a difference between BS'ing yourself and actually having a realistic shot at doing so.
Last year, Bekele said he wanted to defend the Olympic double gold and run in the 12:40s - while those were realistic sights, it was clear he wasn't quite ready for it as the results were 4th, DNQ and 12:55 respectively
ya for sure i remember and maybe I'm just hopeful as a long time fan.
I wish interviews got more into the details of what is going on with runners when injured etc.
It is my understanding that he has not trained as hard in the last year or 2 for fear of getting reinjured.
While this made sense now as he gets holder I hope he trains hard like he used to (only problem I see, Hicham was in his prime around 30 in 2004) as who knows how much medal winning races he has left.
word on the street is that he trained through his last 10000m and that he is ready to rock in Ostrava. Rabbits supposed to go through 3000m in 7:42-7:44. With a fast last lap, this bodes for 12:40 territory.
he says he wants fast times too and then he run slow like...
maybe he got some new epo from hermens
Do people think that KB still has the wheels to challenge the top dogs on the last lap? No chance. And old man Bekele can't run away from them either.
He'll be lucky to sneak a bronze.
It's time to hit the roads and fade into irrelevance.
A lot has been written about Hagos, Gebremeskel, Alamirew etc..But the one that i think Farah should be looking out for is Muktar Edriss. Just like he was unceremoniously beaten by the unheralded Jeilan in 2011, he will suffer the same fate at the hands of this young man. His speed over the last 200 is phenomenal. No one out there kicks like this kid. Watch out for him tomorrow.
His statements are reminiscent of Geb when he started getting older and still made statements that he could break WRs and what not. Never happened.
ya
his statements are not in tune with where he's actually at
maybe he got something up his sleeve
testing is stricter now with the passport, not so easy to take the epo in big doses now

Geb did break the marathon world record at age 35.

What's a dopper?
It's like a losser - only on drugs.
hermens sends his athletes to various doping doctors

claims innocence when he gets found out
Would that be Calvinism as in Calvin Smith?
