5k and 1500 - obviously
steeple - easily, even with no steeple training
10k - she should have been able to hang with Jordan with no problem
800 - this would be the toughest, but I think she is definitely faster than her pb right now.
Let's put her on the 4x4 for good measure. And, she nearly made the shot put as the implement.
everything but the 800m.
could rupp or lagat do the same? 1500/3k Stp/5k/10k?
assuming that the athlete was 100% for each race.

Steeple would be hardest for each.
Rupp, ran 3:50.92 mile INDOORS and qualified in the other two.
Lagat, yes as well.
Yeah, I think she could've

Yes but he wasn't running in a tactical race against Olympic and WC medalists. If he is really capable of out-kicking Centro and Manzano he should be running the 1500.
All 3 1500 qualifiers have 800 pbs of 1:45 or better. Rupp would not have qualified in that event.

You are aware that she's the steeple American Record holder, yes?

I'm certainly aware of that, but I'm also assuming she hasn't done any steeple training for years.
Alright, just double checking.
I would agree that she probably hasn't done any steepling for awhile, but it shouldn't be that hard to relearn.
My point was even if she just stepped up to the line without having run a steeple in years she would still have easily qualified against that field, and probably would have won the race.

Rupp has 1:43.5 800 meter speed. He would crush the 1500.

I'll give you Manzano on the foot speed, but Lomong's 800m PR is 1:45.58. And, when did Centrowitz run 1:45 or better? His USATF bio does not show that. It only shows 1:47s.
Is it fair to assume that Jenny could DOMINATE the steeple on an international level if she had kept up the training....or even if she went back to it now? So much more competition in the 15.

doesn't she have some problem with her leg that makes steepling potentially dangerous to her? Maybe it went away, but once she said she had to quit steepling because of a leg condition.
interesting question is if she goes back to it for Rio assuming she can do it safely - probably depends how she does in moscow.

Granted, she's already proven to be a world-beater at 1500, so it will never happen, but perhaps she could challenge the WR and win multiple world titles in the steeple.
OP,
Great thread. You should have phrased it differently though. I think there is no doubt she wins 3 of the events, probably four with the way Flanagan ran. The only question is the 800.I don't think she qualifies in the 800 but maybe. She did beat Lea Wallace, Phoebe Wright, Geena Gall at 800 earlier this year.
As for Rupp, there is no way he qualifes in the 800. ZERO ZERO ZERO chance. There is no chance he wins the 1500 either. If he's not outkicking Lagat in the 5000, he's not outkicking Manzano and Centro in the 1500. Slow tactical races have never been his thing. Could he get third in that event ahead of Lomong? Yes, possible.
I don't think he qualifies in the steeple.
Simpson 4 for 5 with 3.5 wins.
Rupp, I'd say 2.5 out of 5 with 2 wins.

1 Tyler Mulder USA 1:44.79
2 Joe Abbott USA 1:45.80
3 Mark Wieczorek USA 1:45.85
4 Matthew Centrowitz USA 1:45.86
Flanagan is the only athlete dominant enough to qualify in 2 events (10k, 5k), no one could have qualified in 3 and 4 is out of the question. There is no way Jenny could survive the 800 and 1500 rounds with a 32 minute 10k in her legs. She would have had to PR in the 800 and run a 400m PR in the last lap of the 1500. I am not sure Jenny would not have even qualified in the 5k with a 10k and 2 SC races in her legs. The biggest problem for Jenny would be the schedule and the fact that she just isn't good enough to pull it off.

I obviously meant this as a hypothetical exercise. Simpson could have chosen any of 5 events in which to qualify and would have been a sure bet in 4 of them and with a shot in a 5th.
And Flanagan is not the only athlete dominant enough to qualify in 2 events because Rowbury may still qualify in the 1500 and 5k and Simpson certainly could have done the same. In fact I would say that Simpson would be a much better bet to qualify in 1500 and 5k than Flanagan in 5k and 10k.
OK, Rojo, instead of Rupp, what about Lagat?
You have to think he could have beat Rupp in the 10k as it would be their first meeting like the 5k. Would Ritz matter to the outcome? What would Rupp have done differently in the 5k after seeing Lagat's 10k? What would the 1500 guys do with Lagat?
