Matt Elliot easily had the best last 100 but got boxed by Leer and another runner forcing him to slow down. He still regained composer and forced his way to 4th. Had he taken the outside Kane he would have been third today!!!!

Unlikely. He's never broken 3:40. He can't go to worlds without some standard right.? Taking 3rd would have given him time to chase it but seems a long shot that he was .2 from worlds.
He is very fortunate to get that 4th spot over Leer. If Lomong chooses 5k he's in.
Except he doesn't even have the B standard, so he still wouldn't be going.

But as a #4 he can chase.
If Elliot chases the B standard and gets it and Lomong doesn't run the 1500, would Elliot go?
He's not lucky, he's better. Lomong (you can't even spell his name) is a better tactician and a better runner. Props to Matt on a hell of a meet.
In another thread it is mentioned that nobody has the standard. Centro is the only one going right now, everybody else has to chase.
Props to Elliot. What a beast! 51.18 on the last 400 of a 3:45 for a guy with a 3:40 PR? This is unheard of. Hope he goes to Europe.

Excellent point because he certainly can't run 3:37 between now and July 20...
Agreed. I like Centro, Manzano, and Lomong, but I really hope one of them drops out or chooses the 5000. That guy is awesome.

It is an excellent point, and fact. As Mrr82 pointed out he was not .2 from worlds, he was .2 from having an outside chance at chasing the qualifier to go. So the original post is flat out wrong, keep your sarcasm elsewhere if you can't comprehend things like that.
It would be a big pr for him, and he's certainly not getting into those diamond league meets. Sure, it's possible, but unlikely.

Definitely an awesome interview. Love the southern accent. Gotta love this guy
Based on what Elliot showed in this meet, he's definitely in shape to take a hack at the B standard. Who knows if it would matter, but he's definitely in that area to drop a big PR. It's just a matter of getting in the right race, with the right guys in the right conditions. I could throw a few more cliches into that last sentence if anybody wants to read them.
He did run 3:57 solo for a mile a month ago so that's about a 3:39. There's a second closer to 3:37 and 3:35.

New favorite runner! The accent is awesome.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
